Dampener Period – Business Central
Dampener Period – Business Central
The dampener period limits the number of insignificant rescheduling of existing supply to a later date if that new date is within the dampener period.
Let’s understand this concept with an example,
Work date – 22/02/2024
Item replenishment system – Prod. Order
Dampener period – 14D
The item is attached with a production BOM. No routing is attached.
Consider a sales order with a “Planned delivery date” of 26/02/2024. Assume that there is not any demand in the system for this item.
If the planning worksheet executed for this item , the system will suggest a production order with a due date of 26/02/2024.
Carry out action message and let the planning worksheet to create the production order.
Shift the planned delivery date of the sales order to 02/03/2024.
â—¾Original planned delivery date – 26/02/2024
â—¾Number of days shifted – 5 days
Hence, it is within the dampener period (14D).
If the planning worksheet is executed after changing the planned delivery date, the system will not suggest anything.
If the planning worksheet is executed without a dampener period on the item card, the system will suggest to cancel the existing production order and reschedule it to 02/03/2024.
