Business Central 2024 wave 1 – Assemble to project

The public preview of Business Central 2024 wave 1 is now available. Now you can process assembly orders via jobs (Projects). In this version Microsoft has named jobs as “Projects“.

If you search “jobs” in search bar, you will see projects,

You will see “Qty. to assemble” field in project planning lines window. 

An assembly item (item with an assembly BOM) can be consumed to a project. An assembly order (assemble-to-order) is created when a quantity is entered in “Qty. to Assembly” field. You can transfer that line to project journal lines (job journal lines). 

When you post the project journal, the system automatically posts the assembly order. Assembly BOM components are consumed and an assembly output is posted. A negative adjustment is posted to reduce the assembly output (consumption to the project). 

Additional notes

i. System creates an assemble-to-order assembly order (even when the assembly policy is “Assemble-to-stock” on the item card).
