How to set up a subcontractor work center – Business Central
Setting up a subcontractor work center is simiar to setting up a regular work center except that you need to specify a vendor in ‘Subcontractor No’ field. The subcontractor work center can be assigned to a routing.
Follow below steps to set up a subcontractor work center,
1. Search ‘Work centers’ in the search bar and select the relevant link. Click on ‘New’ to create a new work center.
2. Similar to setting up a regular work center, fill in the details under ‘General’ tab.
Name, Work center group code,
3. Under ‘Posting’ tab Select ‘Units’ in ‘Unit Cost of Calculation’ field. Select check box for the ‘Specific unit cost’ feld if you want to use different rate for each subcontracting process with the vendor.
This allows you to specify unit cost in ‘Unit cost per’ field in each routing line.
Select a ‘Subcontractor No’. This is essential for the subcontracting process.
Select the flushing method, and Gen. Prod. Posting Group.
4. Under ‘Scheduling’ tab select ‘Minutes’ as the ‘Unit of Measure code’. Select a ‘Shop calendar code’ appropriately.
*Make sure to calcualte calendar for the subcontracting work center. Follow below steps to calculate the calendar,
i. Click on process -> Calendar
ii. Click on ‘Show Matrix’ on work center calnedar window.
iii. Click on Actions -> Functions -> Calculate
